Amish Author, here on Wed April 28th

The Friends of the Library will be hosting a return engagement of best-selling Amish author Ruth Irene Garrett on Wednesday April 28th at 6:30 pm. She is the best-selling author of “Crossing Over” one woman’s escape from Amish life. She will talk about her life growing up Amish, her choice at age 22 to leave the community and marry an “englisher”, her family’s hurtful reactions and her halting adjustment to the outside world. She’ll also share stories from her latest book, “Ruthie Goes to Town”, a heartwarming, and beautifully illustrated children’s story that depicts the unexpected choices encountered by a young farm girl. Ruth grew up in an Amish community in Iowa and currently lives in Kentucky with here husband Ottie.
