Brady Bunch-40 years

Sherwood Schwartz created both “Gilligan’s Island” and "The Brady Bunch," another one of television's favorite shows. After a long successful run in prime time, it has also become a TV cult classic, with spectacular success in syndication. The Brady’s are celebrating their 40th anniversary. The first show aired on September 26, 1969 when Michael and Carol Brady were married. In this premiere episode called "The Honeymoon", the wedding day festivities progress smoothly except for the family pets, a cat and a dog, which don't go along with the idea of peaceful coexistence. Now four decades after their first burst onto the television landscape, “The Brady Bunch” remains TV’s favorite family. It went from being a ratings sleeper during its five-year fun to a place of honor in American pop culture history.

These two shows (Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch) have not left television since they first premiered. Their theme songs are part of Americana. They both had hit reunion movies, cartoon series and hits on Broadway. Check out our display case that features collectible television memorabilia from the sixties and seventies. See if you remember the shows.
