Across Wisconsin’s landscape is a vanishing way of life, the symbol of American agriculture: the barn. Each one has its own history, unique features, construction and uses. Did you know that nobody else in the world has more round barns than Vernon County, Wisconsin? We have the book “Round Barns of Vernon County”, a self-tour guidebook that plots the barns on a driving loop of about 100 miles. Wisconsin has many iconic barns, which have come to represent a way of life. The book “Wisconsin Barns” by Nancy Burgess is filled with photographs in all seasons. We also have award-winning author Jerry Apps’ book “Barns of Wisconsin”, which shares a unique perspective on the great barns of rural Wisconsin.
