Lucille Ball

America’s favorite redhead was born one hundred years ago on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. Lucille Ball was a film and television pioneer and comedienne. It’s also hard to believe that our favorite redhead and her orchestra leader husband have been gracing television sets this year for sixty years. Our lobby display case is remembering Lucy and the groundbreaking “I Love Lucy” show which has been seen in over seventy countries. Just image you can hear Ricky tell Lucy that she cannot be in the show in China, Finland, Egypt, Turkey and Holland. You can hear Lucy try to sing in Flemish, Greek, Japanese, Norwegian and Thai. It’s truly an international phenomenon!
Our DVD collection of television programs includes the complete series of “I Love Lucy”. So sit back and relive the magical gift that Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred have given the world since they premiered on CBS Television in 1951.
