Twenty-years ago on April 8, 1990 the death of Ryan White was the major news story of the day. He put the face of a child on AIDS and helped promote greater understanding of the disease. His 1991 book, “Ryan White my story” describes how he got AIDS, the legal battle to return to school and his being an spokesman for issues concerning the deadly disease. As President Reagan said at the time “It’s the disease that’s frightening, not the people who have it”. Copy of the book is available in our nonfiction collection.
