Washington Monument

The Washington Monument, the tallest building in Washington D.C. is visible from miles away. This fitting tribute to our first president was dedicated 125 years ago on February 21, 1885. We have many books and videos on planning your trip to Washington D.C. to see this monument. Did you know that this iconic landmark has been featured in a number of film and television depictions? Dan Brown references the symbolic meaning of the shape in the novel “The Lost Symbol”. The monument is destroyed in disaster films such as “2012” and “Mars Attacks”, used as a backdrop in the final scene of the movie “In the Line of Fire”.
