Speaker- Thursday Night

Hope to see you at the library Thursday night, February 25th at 7 PM as we welcome Harvey Baumgartner. He will present living off the earth as described in his book “Dancing in the Dew, A New Way of Living on Planet Earth”. Mr. Baumgartner was born and raised on a dairy farm near Monroe, Wisconsin, where he learned to appreciate the magic of nature. Following his military service,
Harvey searched for answers to life’s big questions in the mountains of the American West. Harvey, his wife, and their two small children left LaFarge, Wisconsin for Idaho - on horseback. That trip and Harvey’s adventures working with ranchers, outfitters and the Forest Service provided material for the authentic picture of Western life chronicled in his book. Baumgatner made a second primitive trip west in 1998 this time by covered wagon. Harvey moved to Elroy, Wisconsin in 2000 to be close to his daughter and her family. He moved to a twelve-acre hilltop hayfield in 2002 and built his sod home, where he continues to maintain a simple but contented lifestyle, farming, writing and enjoying his natural surroundings.
