David Rhodes

Friends of the Library will be welcoming local author David Rhodes to the library on Tuesday, Nov 17th @ 7 PM. His latest book “Driftless”, returns to the midwestern landscape, offering a fascinating and entirely unsentimental portrait of a town apparently left behind by the march of time. Intimate and funny, wise and generous, Driftless is an unforgettable story of contemporary life in rural America. David Rhodes worked in fields, hospitals and factories across Iowa as a young man. After receiving an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop in 1971, he published “The Last Fair Deal Going Down”, “The Easter House” and “Rock Island”. In 1977, a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. Driftless is his first book since. Join us in welcoming and discussing his work on Tuesday, November 17th.
