Hatchlings Inaugural Poetry Palooza

April is poetry month and hatchlings, the children’s department located in the Blue Heron, is celebrating with a poetry contest. All third, fourth and fifth graders are invited to write a poem expressing how their mom and/or dad help them to “grow.” A winner will be chosen from each grade and will receive a gift certificate for hatchlings.

All participants can choose a Smencil, which is a gourmet scented pencil from hatchlings. For each entry received, the Blue Heron will donate one dollar to the Friends of the Reedsburg Public Library to help purchase materials for the Children’s Area of the Library.

All of the young writers are invited to read their poems on Friday, May 15th at the Blue Heron. This evening the Woolen Mill Gallery is also celebrating a gallery event entitled The Growing Season sponsored by the Wormfarm.

The deadline to turn in an entry at the Blue Heron is May 1st and one per child, please. More information about this inaugural event is available at the Reedsburg Public Library and the Blue Heron at 170 East Main Street
