Oregon, the Beaver State- 150th Anniversary



Oregon the Beaver State- became the 33rd state in the Union on Feb 14, 1859.



The origin of the state name is unknown, but it is believed to be derived from the French ouragan, meaning "River of Storms", which referred to the tumultuous Columbia River that borders the state. Bound by Washington to the north, Idaho to the east, Nevada and California t the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west, Oregon is a land of spectacular beauty with a rich history.
