There are
several celebrations on the calendar this week, like Police Week, National
Transportation Week, American Craft Beer Week and also Children’s Book Week.
Since 1919, Children’s Book Week has been celebrated nationally in schools,
libraries, bookstores and anywhere there are children and books. Educators,
librarians, booksellers and families celebrate children’s books and the love of
reading. One of the best ways to celebrate the week is to read aloud to your
child. Some read-aloud resources include, “The Read-Aloud Handbook” by Jim
Trelease and “Reading Magic: Why Reading Aloud to Our Children Will Change
Their Lives Forever” by Mem Fox.
