60 Years of Rock and Roll

Did you know that it’s been sixty years since the world music scene changed? July 5, 1954 a local truck driver walked into 707 Union Avenue in Memphis and recorded “That’s all right”. Rock and Roll was born that day at Sun Records. The local kid who recorded it was “Elvis” and it is considered to be the rock and roll record that started it all. The tune forever changed the face of music and is still remembered in that studio today where a taped “x” on the floor marks where Elvis stood. It’s the flashpoint of modern rock and roll. Did you know that Sun Studio was site of more recording history. Not only the room where Elvis recorded put also where Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison started their careers. Check out our cd’s from these recording artists or check out our lobby display case.
