In
Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between
the crosses row on row,
That mark
our place; and in the sky
The larks,
still bravely singing, fly
Scarce
heard amid the guns below.
We are the
Dead. Short days ago
We lived,
felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and
were loved, and now we lie
In
Flanders fields.
Take up
our quarrel with the foe:
To you
from failing hands we throw
The torch;
be yours to hold it high.
If ye
break faith with us who die
We shall
not sleep, though poppies grow
In
Flanders fields.
Memorial
Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer.
To many people, especially the nation's thousands of combat veterans, this day,
which has a history stretching back all the way to the Civil War, is an
important reminder of those who died in the service of their country. Take a
moment this weekend to remember those brave soldiers.
Summer
Library hours start Memorial Day Weekend. Our summer hours are: Monday-Thursday
8:30 am-8 pm, Friday 8:30 am-5 pm, Saturday 9 am-1 pm, Sunday Closed. The
library will be closed on Memorial Day.
