One of the
greatest living baseball players, Hank Aaron, is celebrating his 80th birthday.
The hall of fame player was born February 5, 1934 and is the author of three
books, including “I Had a Hammer”, his 1991 autobiography. This book tells the
story of a major league player with his roots in the Negro League, how he
helped to integrate the South Atlantic League, and his years in Milwaukee – a
city that loved him, to Atlanta, where he was shown little affection. Our lobby display case remembers his playing
days from Eau Claire to Milwaukee to Atlanta and back to Milwaukee.
