Sunday was
the final game at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The one-time home of the Minnesota Vikings, Gophers and Twins, it was the only
stadium to host a World Series, Super Bowl and Final Four Tournament. Michael
Jordan, Brett Favre, Mick Jagger and Billy Graham all played the Dome. It is
also where Kirby Puckett led the Twins to two World Series (“We’ll see you
tomorrow night!”). Cal Ripken Jr scored
his 3,000th hit and Brett Favre became the first quarterback in history to beat
all 32 NFL teams. But the Dome for me is one of special memories. Who can’t
think of the Dome without hearing that Vikings horn? The library has DVD’s of
complete games of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins World Series
broadcasts to help you remember not the prettiest stadium, but one of the most
unique. As the winds have sucked people
out after the games, the amazing performances there have sucked us in as well.
