A hero to all,
Rosa Parks was born one hundred years ago on February 4, 1913. She was an
accomplished seamstress, and on a fateful day in Montgomery, she refused to
give up her seat to a white man during a ride home from work. This simple act
sparked the Civil Rights Movement. We have many books on the Civil Rights
Movement, including the children’s book “The Bus Ride That Changed History” by
Pamela Edwards. This book tells the remarkable story, but is also interspersed
with modern-day cartoon characters guiding readers through the events and
posing questions via dialogue-balloon conversations. History was made because
of one woman’s bravery.
