Mark your calendar for Thursday, November 15th at 7 PM as the Friends of the Library will be hosting a program on one of Portage’s most historic houses. Indian Agency House, built in 1832, is one of the oldest in Wisconsin. The house was constructed by the United States Government as a residence for the Indian Agent to the Ho-Chuck. The young couple’s experiences of Portage life in 1832-1834 are in the book “Wau-Bun” by Juliette Kinzie, who was the grandmother of the founder of the Girl Scouts of America.
