Discover your Inner-Elvis

It’s the time of year for you to discover your inner-Elvis, as it’s Elvis Week in Memphis, Tennessee! As you would imagine, Elvis Week is the time when worshippers from all over the globe pay homage to the main man. We have a display of books and music in commemoration of the man who changed the face of 20th-century music. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, we have a few CDs from the “Follow That Dream” collector series. These Elvis titles include material from previously unreleased studio sessions and concert recordings.

Thirty-five years ago, on August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley was pronounced dead at the age of 42. Regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture, Elvis was born in 1935 in a two-room shotgun house, built by his father. He is known the world over by just his first name. Our collection includes many books, movies and music for you to remember a man named Elvis.
