Mister Rogers Neighborhood

Also on May 22nd, forty-five years ago  “Mister Rogers Neighborhood” debuted on PBS. The Presbyterian minister Fred Rogers hosted this long-running children’s program. Puppets and human characters interacted in the neighborhood of make-believe. Rogers voiced many of the puppets and educated young viewers on a variety of important subjects. Almost 1,000 episodes were produced over the history of the show.  Each episode began the same way, with Mister Rogers coming home and singing his theme song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and changing into sneakers and a zippered cardigan sweater. We have many of Fred Rogers’ books, episodes of the show and even a CD of songs from the neighborhood.  Just added to our DVD collection is the award winning documentary “Mister Rogers and Me”.
