Last week children author Maurice Sendak died, he didn’t think of himself as a children’s author, but as an author who told the truth about childhood. He is known in particular for more than a dozen picture books he wrote and illustrated himself, most famously “Where the Wild Things Are”, which was simultaneously genre-breaking and career-making when it was published in 1963. We have many of his works in our collection.
