Jim Henson- 75



Jim Henson one of the most widely known puppeteers in history was born September 24, 1936 and would have been seventy-five this year. An extraordinary artist and visionary, invented unique worlds and characters that remains just as vivid, original and fresh today as when they were created. As a television pioneer, he brought to life some of the most memorable characters including,
Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, Rowlf, Bert and Ernie, Gonzo, Animal, Miss Piggy and Oscar the Grouch. These are a few of his puppets or Muppets that captured the hearts of children and adults alike in television and film. Check out our display of DVDs and books of the life and works of Jim Henson. Our display includes the 2005 “its Not Easy Being Green” which offers a testament on life, friendship, individuality and creativity from Henson and his characters. Jim Henson was born in Greenville, Mississippi and spent his early years nearby in Leland, Mississippi.
