50 yrs ago- Berlin Wall

On August 13, 1961 fifty years ago in the early morning, the East German government closed the border between the east and west sectors of Berlin with barbed wire fence to discourage further population movement to the west. The Berlin Wall was a symbol of the Cold War till 1989 when it opened after twenty-eight years.
