Library sets new records in 2010

Just like any other business the library looks at numbers to evaluate the past year. We set a new circulation record for the year in 2010. Library patrons checked out 292,850 items and we welcomed 259,473 visitors through the library’s doors. By these indications the library is being very well used. We held 657 programs (including storytimes, school visits, Summer Library Programs and Evening adult programs) with a total attendance of 15,749 children and adults. If you haven’t used your Library lately, we invite you come in and see what all the excitement is about!

Library services go beyond books and printed materials. I recently ran across a list of 12 things that libraries do: Libraries sustain democracy, break down boundaries, level the playing field, value the individual, nourish creativity, open young minds, return high dividends, build communities, support families, build technology skills, offer sanctuary and preserve the past. Help us celebrate Library Lover’s Month, visit us today.
