Ten years ago on January 6, 2001 a fast moving fire destroyed two of LaValle’s historic buildings as heavy snow sliding from a roof struck electric wires. The weekend fire destroyed Dave’s Hardware and the River Mill Restaurant. The wooden framed Hardware building dated back to the 1840’s and had wooden floors and high ceilings. Our historic photographic collection includes images from Jeff Seering and others of that night in LaValle. A link to the collection of fire images is available on our web site as well as other historic LaValle photos.
