Mark Twain

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain was born 175 years ago in Florida, MO. on November 30, 1835. Twain based many of his novels, short stories and essays on his life experiences. Two of his most famous works, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” were based on Twain’s youth. The settings are similar to Twain’s childhood home of Hannibal, MO. You can watch a tour of “Mark Twain’s Hannibal” on DVD. This tour takes you to the Hannibal area including many places featured in Twain’s writings. He also died 100 years ago on April 21, 1910 and has a recently released best-selling book. His autobiography volume one has been released which had to wait 100 years to be published, by his wishes, as he saw the work too personal or too scalding for immediate publication.
