Hurricane Katrina

Five years ago: August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina moved into the Gulf of Mexico and grew into one of the most devastating hurricanes in US history. Destroying communities up and down the Gulf, levees were breached and within two days more than 80 percent of New Orleans was under water. We have two exclusive books by the Biloxi’s Sun Herald which documents Hurricane impact on the Gulf Coast. “Katrina: before & after” captures homes, businesses and other locations before and after the disaster. “Katrina: 8 Hours that changed the Mississippi coast forever” will help you understand this terrible natural disaster. Four years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints defeated the heavily-favored Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl. Sean Payton’s new book “Home Team” is an inspirational story of a city recovering from disaster and a team with a history of heart-break, seen through the eyes of the coach who taught them both how to win. Our lobby display looks at the NFL’s first game of the season New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings with pictures and other artifacts from the January’s NFC Championship game.
