Earth Day -40

The initiatives to “go green” have been entering every arena in the past few years, from supermarket checkout lines to presidential debates to everyday classrooms. But protecting the environment isn’t a new phenomenon in fact; the “green community” will celebrate the 40th Earth Day on Thursday April 22nd. Wisconsin’s rich legacy of environmental thinking and activism can now reach all corners of the globe in some classic print volumes. “The Man from Clear Lake” by Bill Christofferson, looks at Earth Day founder Senator Gaylord Nelson. And the book “Thinking like a Mountain” by Susan Flader looks at Aldo Leopold and the evolution of an ecological attitude toward deer, wolves and forests. Check out our display of books and videos on making a difference toward planet earth.
