Paul Revere

“The British are coming! The British are coming!” These are the famous words associated with Paul Revere, who was born 275 years ago on January 1st. Revere was immortalized for his “midnight ride” in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride” (we have an illustrated edition). Some famous paintings of Paul Revere are part of the Picturing American exhibit we have on display at the library. Above our Science Fiction collection is a copy of John Singleton Copley’s “Paul Revere-1768” and above our 28 day DVD collection is Grant Wood’s “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere”. The Picturing America collection brings the story of our nation to life through high-quality color reproductions of masterpieces of American art. This collection is placed throughout the library. Thanks to the National Endowment for the Humanities for this donation.
