David Lloyd

In the famous “Chuckles Bites the Dust”, episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, we saw the WJM-TV crew struggling to contain the urge to joke about the comic circumstances surrounding the death of Chuckles the Clown. David Lloyd, the writer of that episode, died last Wednesday. At the episode’s end, Moore, who had previously lectured her station mates for poking fun, finds herself erupting in laughter during the minister’s eulogy. This episode was ranked as one of the top television episodes of all time. If you don’t remember how Chuckles died, you can borrow the episode from us and watch it. David Lloyd was a giant in the industry working on many memorable shows that we have on DVD, here at the library. Some of his works are episodes of Cheers, Wings, Bob Newhart Show, Mary Tyler Moore, Fraser and others.
