Daniel Boone

“The Great Pathfinder” Daniel Boone was born, 275 years ago on November 2nd. He is famous for opening up the West to settlers, blazing the Wilderness Road across the Appalachian Mountains through the Cumberland Gap and establishing the Boonesborugh settlement in Kentucky. A symbol of pioneering spirit, Boone was a skilled outdoorsman, a soldier and an avid reader. You can learn more about this iconic figure in history by reading Robert Morgan’s biography “Boone” where his life comes fully alive on the pages. We also have some of the Fess Parker television series “Daniel Boone”. Remember the popular theme song describing Boone as a “big man in a coonskin cap”, despite the fact that the real Daniel Boone wasn’t big and didn’t actually wear a coonskin cap.
