Jean Craighead George

Jean Craighead George, a Newberry Medal-winning author who was born on July 2, 1919 into a family of naturalists, and a deep love and respect for nature is evident in everything she has written. Her books include nonfiction and fiction, picture books and novels, and she is probably best known for “Julie of the Wolves” and “My Side of the Mountain”. Both are wonderful middle-grade novels with notes of outdoor adventure and survival themes, and both inspired several sequels.
