Coping with tough economic times can be stressful for parents and kids alike. Books like Beverly Cleary’s “Ramona and her Father” tell the story of a family who’s routine is upset when her father unexpectedly loses his job. Keith Greenberg’s “Erik is Homeless” is a photographic essay about a nine-year old boy who is homeless in New York City.
Make plans for our After School Club on Thursday March 26 at 3:30 PM. We will be showing “Kit Kittredge”; based on the “American Girl” series of dolls and books. Kit is a young girl living during the struggles of the Great Depression. When the bank takes her father’s auto dealership back, Kit's father is forced to head for Chicago to look for work, leaving his family struggling to make ends meet. Kit helps her mother turn the family home into a boarding house. Join us for this movie and learn about the boarders they take in and the hobos they befriend.
