Abraham Lincoln- 200th Birthday

Abraham Lincoln was born Feb 12, 1809 in Hardin County, KY. He is celebrating the bicentennial (200 years) of his birth. Our lobby display case is featuring a theme of Lincoln from his log cabin years to Springfield and to Washington. Included in the display is an April 1865 newspaper recalling the death of the President. When a Reedsburg soldier heard of the news, he carried it back with him after the war. Later it was given to the library.
This year there has been wealth of recent publications on Lincoln that retrace his life and legacy, hoping to shed new or merely refocused light on all that is already known about the man. Ronald White’s “A. Lincoln” is an imposing doorstopper of a book, close to a thousand pages and exhaustively annotated and referenced. White’s research benefits from the availability of the recently completed Lincoln Legal Papers, which offer a more thorough view of Lincoln’s law practice. Come in and see all the new titles that are available about Abraham Lincoln and his family. Or from home check LINKcat for the most recent titles.
