Joseph Krumgold 100th Birth Anniversary

Joseph Krumgold author of Newbery medal winners “Onion John” and “And Now Miguel” was born one hundred years ago on April 9, 1908. He died on July 10, 1980; we have both of his award winning books in our children’s section. He was the first author to receive the Newbery medal for excellence in American children’s literature twice. This year’s winner of the Newbery medal is “Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village” by Laura Amy Schlitz. Check at the library for a list of past winners, the award has been given yearly since 1922.
