Garth Williams Birthday


April 16, 1912- One of the most beloved and prolific children's illustrators of all time. Born today in New York, New York he tried to become a cartoonist, but instead found success as the illustrator of E.B. White's Stuart Little, published in 1945. He soon turned to illustrating full time creating illustrations for all nine of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books as well as White's Charlotte's Web and George Selden's The Cricket in Time Square. He died on May 8, 1996.
