Children's author known for books on the African-American experience, born at Yellow Springs, Ohio. She won both the National Book Award and the Newberry Medal for 1975's 'M.C. Higgins the Great", and was the first children's author ever to receive the MacArthur Foundation's genius grant. We have this book in paperback, you will find it in our children's section.
